Belle, a senior Chihuahua, was first introduced to Maria by her neighbor. Maria intervened to stop the abuser and persuaded the abuser to give Belle to her when she heard that the older dog was being beaten.
Maria quickly returned the frightened, traumatized animal to her new foster home. Maria stated, „I’ve never seen an animal in my life with so much fear and hope in her body.“
When Belle entered Maria’s house, her entire demeanor changed, even though she was thin and shaking from fear. She was relieved the moment she entered my house,” Maria stated.
When Belle was between the ages of 14 and 15, she was malnourished and treated badly, but she still had the energy to run around the house and show how happy she was to finally be free of her abuser.
Even more precious, however, was Belle’s response to her bed. She appeared to melt with happiness as soon as Maria placed her down.
I had never seen a creature be so content with something so basic,“ said Maria. Maria learned from her vet visit that her new dog still needed some work.
The Chihuahua lacked energy and had severe arthritis. She was a completely different dog after living with us for at least three weeks,” Maria stated.
Additionally, Belle was able to find her forever home because of Maria’s bravery and compassion.
She knew there were people in the world who wouldn’t hurt her, so she fell in love right away, Maria said.
