Little elephant tries his best to be like his mother

One of the best ways for young animals to acquire the skills they need to grow up is to imitate their parents. This is true for human infants as well as baby Haven the baby elephant.

His mother, Somboon, was his guide. He was only three months old when he stopped being able to use his trunk to grasp things, but that didn’t stop him from trying to be like his mother.

Haven made an effort to imitate his mother when she threw sand on her back and foraged.

While his endeavors didn’t demonstrate productive, he was getting the hang of all that he expected to develop into a balanced elephant.

Haven and his mother were inseparable because she was the only elephant Haven knew. He learned to crouch beneath his mother when he grew too big to crawl under her feet.

Haven still needed to take one crucial step, though. He had to join the other members of his herd.

The staff at the elephant sanctuary slowly introduced Somboon and her young to the rest of the herd to ensure the safety of all the elephants.

Haven developed a new bond with Sudarat, the family’s matron and nanny, when the two elephants joined the herd. Haven was cuddling up to the older elephant when he wasn’t under his mother’s feet.

With two sympathetic and cherishing parental figures to take care of him, Shelter will keep on developing into a fit, blissful grown-up elephant.

While he worked on his trunk skills, he had another elephant to model himself after.
