Ryder has always adored toys of all kinds. He enjoys spending time with his miniature companions, despite his natural shyness and cuddly nature.
Ryder gets a little perplexed each year when his family puts up a Christmas tree because there are perfectly good toys on it. Until he met Eeyore, though, he almost always left them alone.
According to Lauren Chang, a member of Ryder’s family, who spoke with The Dodo, „He first noticed Eeyore on the tree last Christmas, but this year he became obsessed with it.“
Ryder prefers Eeyore over all of the ornaments on the tree. He was able to live with just looking at Eeyore from afar last year, but this year he took their relationship to the next level.
Ryder sneaks over to the tree whenever his family isn’t around and gently takes Eeyore down, eager to spend time with his best friend.
Chang stated, „He just holds it in his mouth when he steals it, or he brings it to his bed or the couch to take a nap with it.“ Even though there are similar stuffed ornaments on the tree, he has only ever stolen Eeyore.
Eeyore has something special about it for Ryder. He treasures every moment he spends with his little Christmas buddy, even though his family always puts him back on the tree.
Chang stated, „We don’t always take it away from him right away“ and that „sometimes he gets to sleep with it.“
Ryder decided this Christmas that Eeyore was special, and his family is eager to see if he will make his love of the ornament a Christmas tradition.
